Rugby weekly update

This week’s games both ended in defeat but the boys played well and the results did not really reflect our efforts.

First up were the U16s against Tigers and after a slow start we found ourselves 10-0 down, but the lads fought back well and made some good chances only for an errant pass or knock on to let us down at the final moment. But half time came and we were still very much in the game. Unfortunately in the second half, particularly in the last 15 minutes our tackling let us down and Tigers pulled away to win 41-0. It was as much to do with fitness levels as anything else, although some of the lads lost heart towards the end, which was disappointing.

The next game was over at football club where our U19 2nd XV faced off against Football Club’s 2nd XV in a Division 2 game. We fought well and were particularly impressive in the scrums, but some missed tackles and the fact that on occasions we gave away possession rather cheaply, meant we soon found ourselves behind. A couple of late scores meant we lost 45-12, but it was not really our day.

Next weekend we have two more games on Sunday.

· 11.30am at Football Club we have the U19 1st XV against Football Club 1st XV. This will be a very hard game and a real test for us.

· 1.30pm at the Police Club we have the U14s v East Kowloon.

Finally some of the girls will be involved in the regional matches at TSW between 1 and 3.30pm.

So Breakthrough rugby matches in HK, Kowloon and the NT for you to watch if you are free.
