Charity Boxing Dinner 

 

Since its inception boxing has played a pivotal role in the history of Operation Breakthrough. It was the first sport to be used as a medium to reach out to kids at risk and over the years has raised much needed funds through its much loved boxing nights.

 

What a fitting tribute then that the most significant event yet hosted in its 19 year history should be marked by the arrival of Marvelous Marvin Hagler Laureus World Sports Academy as special guest of honour for the night.

 

Following a very successful forum the "Cruising for a Bruising" evening attracted over 400 guests excited by the prospect of meeting the boxing legend and enjoying another great evening of boxing entertainment.

 

They were not disappointed with four fast and furious amateur rounds all won by police/Breakthrough boxers and the final professional bout where our very own Sures Gurung, narrowly lost in the four round final.

The great auction prizes on offer and attendance of not only boxing legend Marvelous Marvin agler but also Laureus Academy Chairman and Olympic legend Dr Edwin Moses, combined with the sell out event helping raise over HK$700,000 of much needed funds which will be put towards future sporting activities and Breakthrough programmes
 

It was indeed a fitting end to a momentous day and a great effort from everyone involved  making this a most unforgettable evening.
