As a further update to my last message, Fei Ding helped the HK School’s 7s team win the Asian championship held in HK last weekend and Below is a photo of the happy lad with the trophy and his medal.
Meanwhile yesterday 5 boys (including Fei Ding) and Ivan, one of our coaches, headed out to the UK with 10 other local lads on a trip to attend the Tony Ho rugby camp. This was organised by Kowloon Rugby Club and they very generously asked 5 of our lads along. Below is a photo of the boys at the airport. For those of you who have missed my earlier messages about the trip, attached is a link to a piece, Robbie wrote for the Union website.
It is great to see how the bigger rugby community in HK helps and supports Breakthrough rugby, which we really appreciate. Taking this to the next level and following on from the rugby camp, Kowloon are helping us arrange for one of the Breakthrough boys to actually attend Mount St. Mary’s school next year. There are a few things to finalise but we are hopeful that one of our boys will attend. I will keep you updated on this. A couple of areas where we may need some help, if we can pull the trip off, is a guardian, where he can stay in the holidays and as usual some more money. If you know of anyone living in the area who might be prepared to let him stay during the holidays please let me know and if we can’t reach our funding needs, don’t worry I will not be slow to ask!!
In other news two of our old boys Hang Jai and Mak Kwai Chung (little Monkey) are playing for the HK U20s 7s team in Johor Bahru this weekend.
Meanwhile training continues every Wednesday and the summer course is still going on Friday afternoons, so despite the heat everyone is keeping active.
