Rugby Weekly Update

This week we had no games but instead held our annual Christmas Party. We started with a touch competition between 6 teams, which was great fun. Then it was off to the clubhouse for food, drinks, a lucky draw and some games. Ivan organized it this year and introduced a number of party games, which added to the fun. We had about 70 odd people there, quite a few of whom missed the touch. As always the lucky draw was very popular and my thanks to Alex and Canterbury for the donation of some great kit and also to Woody, our ex-Breakthrough lad. He no longer runs his sports shop in San Po Kong but is setting up an on-line company selling sportswear. Quite a businessman!

In other news we have about 6 or 7 boys who should be playing on New Year’s Day for the Junior Warriors in the Colts Tournament at Football Club and Fei Ding should be playing for the U19 team against the overseas lads. The tournament is always a great way to see in the New Year if you are free.

Are ex-boys have also been starring in HK teams. Ken Encarnacion played for the third year running for the HK U19 team, which qualified for next year’s U20 World Championships. Ken now concentrates on senior rugby and doesn’t play for us anymore but he will hopefully be making his mark at that level soon. In addition we had nine lads head off with the senior Warriors team, which is the HK team development squad and hopefully it won’t be long before one of them makes his mark at the full senior level. Below is a shot of the nine lads and the HK team celebrating their victory (if you look closely you will spot Ken).

It just remains to wish you all a merry Christmas and I very happy New Year. I hope Santa brings everyone what they want!
