    Rugby Weekly Update

I know I promised that the regular emails would stop but there still seems to be so much happening it doesn’t feel like the summer off-period at all.

Last night after training the older boys and girls had a very informative financial workshop run by our key sponsors the Standard Chartered Bank. The interactive session covered saving and spending, interest rates, credit cards etc. and the kids genuinely found it interesting and informative. All of them told me how useful it had been for them and looking back I wish someone had told me much of the content 40 odd years ago. I attach a couple of pictures of the session. My thanks to the volunteers from Standard Chartered who gave up their evening to help the boys and girls.

Meanwhile Ken, Tsz Hin and Hang Jai are down in NZ attending the Chief’s Training Camp for a week and they sent the attached photo. Apparently they are having a great time. What a few months for these boys – Portugal for the Junior World Cup and now NZ for a training camp. Are you jelly? As the youngsters would say these days. I know I am.

This Friday sees the start of our summer course for new boys and girls. We are expecting 60-70 kids including some from Po Leung Kuk and SKH St. Christopher’s Home, both of which provide residential child care services. Hopefully the kids enjoy themselves and want to stay on next season. I am also hoping that enough girls want to remain so that we can expand our options with the girls.

Also on Friday we have the start of a number of matches against visiting UK schools on their way to NZ and Australia. We have joined with Kowloon and have the following matches (all at Kings Park):

    • Friday 10 July: 5-6.30pm U16s v Queen Elizabeth School and 6.45-8.15pm U19s v Queen Elizabeth School

    • Sunday 12 July: 4.30-7.30pm U16 games v Raven School

    • Sunday 19 July: 6-7.30pm U19 v Skinners School 1st XV and 7.30-9pm U19 v Skinners School 2nd XV

    • Tuesday 21 July: 6-7.30pm U19 v Cranbrook School 1stXV and 7.30-9pm U19 v Cranbrook 2nd XV

If any of you fancy watching some rugby I am sure the boys would welcome your support.
