Football Open Day
Last Saturday, 31 October in partnership with AIA we held an Operation Breakthrough football “Open Day” to spread the word to communities about Breakthrough Football. Thanks mostly to the efforts of Kuen and some last minute attendees from Sures we had over 60 kids turn up.
It was great to see a Saturday morning session filled with kids enjoying chasing the ball around.
AIA provided VIP players in the form of Hong Kong captain Chan Wai Ho and Club players Sean Tse and Dean Milovanovic. We had 11 current players turn up to add assistance to coach Kenji and his coaching team and work with the new players attending in their first mentor role.
Our older kids were excited to meet the pro players and had a great photo opp and talk to the players about being a professional footballer. Most importantly we were able to showcase the activity and there were representations from a number of community centres. B
The kids were age 8-12 with a few older kids who turned up as well. We had about 12 young girls also playing and the mix of kids was, local Hong Kong, Indian, Nepalese and 19 players from our regular evening session.
It was an important day for Breakthrough to connect with another corporate supporter and AIA are interested in doing more. They presented us with a football signed by all the Tottenham team which the CEO Mark Tucker was pleased to offer for auction to raise funds adding that he would be please to throw in more memorabilia from their sponsorship.
Thanks to Kuen who worked hard to contact and get new kids along. The Open day was a big success and we will not be able to follow up with the community offices and get the kids down on a regular basis.
