Rugby weekly update

I will start with the best news of the week, one of our boys, Eric Lau, has been accepted as a policeman and will start at the Police College soon - Number 10. For a while I thought that good news had been cancelled out when Robbie told me that another of the boys Chi-Him was in Stanley!! Only subsequently clarifying that it was at the Correctional Services Department Training School as he had joined up as a prison officer. What a great way to start the New Year, another policeman and our first prison officer.

Today we had an U14 tournament at Tai Hang Tung and the lads played three 10-a-side games. They won the first against EK/Kowloon 15-5, lost the second against Valley 10-0 and also the third against HKU 5-0. The last game was a disappointment because HKU scored when we were down to 8 men, two having been yellow carded, which I felt was unnecessary in a U14 Division 3 friendly tournament, as the offences were because of their inexperience rather than any deliberate rough play. Anyway as usual the boys really enjoyed themselves, which is after all what it is all about.

Next week on Sunday 17th January, we have the U19 Girls in action at Tai Hang Tung in a tournament from 2 to 4.30pm; the U16 boys at the Police Club at 1.30pm against East Kowloon and the U19 2ndXV also at the Police Club at 2.45pm against FK/DBP.
