    Rugby Update

First of all I just want to tell everyone that the Old Boys match and awards dinner will now be on Sunday 29 May 2016 at the Police Club. The match will kick off at 4 pm and then we will adjourn to the clubhouse for dinner and the awards. If anyone wants to come please let me know.

Next up some really exciting news for 5 of our boys and Ivan, one of our coaches. After the boys graduate from Breakthrough and move on to senior rugby we have a number of options. For most players who want to continue playing, our boys move onto either Tin Siu Wai Pandas or the Police, but for a few who want to play at the highest levels we have a link with Kowloon. This year we have seen Ray and Ben (aka Hin Jai and Hang Jai) turning out for Kowloon in the Premiership, so the boys do know that they have this opportunity if they are good enough and want to challenge themselves at this level. Each year Kowloon send 15 boys and a couple of coaches to a rugby camp at Mount St. Marys school in Derbyshire in the UK in early August run by the Natal Sharks. This is done in memory of Tony Ho who attended that school and played for Kowloon in the holidays. When he went off to University he was sadly murdered and in his memory the school established this summer camp and Kowloon send a group of local players, with potential, to take part. Attached is a poster for the camp.

The Kowloon Rugby Fest, held just before the HK Sevens, has always supported Breakthrough, but this year we decided with Kowloon to use the funding to send 5 boys and Ivan, one of our coaches and an ex-Breakthrough boy himself, to send some of our lads to experience this wonderful opportunity. So on 29th July the six of them will be flying out to UK returning on 7 August, to attend the rugby training camp. We have chosen five lads who we feel have a lot of potential and who are also dedicated to their training and support of Breakthrough. This obviously is a great opportunity for them and that Tony was such a popular person locally makes the chance for them to partake in this rugby camp held in his memory, extra special.

Exciting news and I hope to see a few of you on the 29th May.
