Breakthrough U19s claim the Steve Tarrant Cup 2019

Every year Operation Breakthrough Rugby gather together for an occasion, the Steve Tarrant Cup. It is a tradition where former breakthrough participants form an Old Boys team to play against the current U19s breakthrough team. For the last 2 years The Old Boys has dominated the fixture.

This year the match was scheduled on 19th May at PSRC where Breakthrough Rugby first started. Before the kickoffs, 2 teams warmed up in very different styles, U19s went through line outs and moves with the coaches and the Old Boys kneeled down and prayed they still have the fitness and skills to last the match.

The match was played in friendly but competitive spirit, it was refereed by a former Breakthrough player. The match was playing in 4 quarters instead of 2 halves, with some players played in several positions.

Long time Breakthrough rugby supporters, CEO of HKRU, Robbie McRobbie, Sales Executive of Tsunami Sports, Alex Yuen and many former Breakthrough players who are now serving in HK Police Force were there to cheer both teams on.

After 80mins of intensive yet fun rugby, Breakthrough U19s decided it was the year for them to shine, snatching the victory over the Old Boys with the score 42-32.
