Highlight of Operation Breakthrough Charity Pickleball Tournament

100 pickleball players participated in a tournament on August 8th to raise money for Operation Breakthrough, a local organization dedicated to help youth-at-risk, using sports programmes like rugby boxing, dragon boats…etc to guide and teach youngsters discipline, determination and resilience through the value of sports.

The event organised by Play It Forward HK, aims to bring the community together for a healthy and fun activity while supporting a vital cause.

“Play It Forward HK isn’t just about raising money, it’s about raising it through play. People came together to compete, connect and support Operation Breakthrough all in one day. The venue was packed with players, families and sponsors - Red Bull, Astes, HIPP and more, it felt like bigger than tournament, it felt like a movement.” said Tai Feng, founder of Play It Forward HK.

Over 100 participants registered online, many more were on the waiting list. All picklers enjoyed the friendly competition and camaraderie, while also contributing to a great cause. The event raised $30,000HKD thanks to the generous donations of sponsors and participants. The funds will support things like sports equipments, mentorship programs, and educational resources.

"We are incredibly grateful to everyone who participated and supported this event," said David Jordan, Chairman of Operation Breakthrough. “Your generosity will make a real difference in the lives of young people in our community, providing them with access to our valuable programs and resources."

We would like to extend our heartfelt thank to 212HK for providing this fantastic venue, Astes for providing some amazing prizes, HIPP and Red Bull for the food catering.

The success of the event is a testament to the power of community and the impact of collective action. We encourage everyone to continue supporting our efforts and the important work of Operation Breakthrough. Your contributions, no matter the size, make a difference.
