Rugby Weekly Update

It has been a couple of weeks since I last wrote updating you. The week before last the U16 matches were postponed and a few of the boys attended the U16 HK age group trials being held that day.

Last weekend the U19 1st team played against HKFC 2nd XV and in a good hard game we lost 32-20. We have about 15 boys injured at the moment so the team was a mix of our firsts and seconds, but they played well and competed for everything. Some of our regulars need to compete in the same way. A number of the injuries were acquired by the boys playing senior rugby and it is something we need to be careful off. Still the injuries are fairly minor and hopefully we should be up to full strength again soon. The U16s played in their postponed games, winning one match and losing the other. Ivan tells me that they are coming on well, considering this is most of the lads first season playing competitive rugby.

Friday sees five of the boys joining a Breakthrough contingent going for drinks and canapes at the Chief Secretary’s House. This is good exposure for us and it is nice to get recognition from such a senior member of the Government.

This weekend sees a break for the boys and most of the girls. Some of the girls however are involved on Sunday in the U16 Regional Games at TSW from 12-2.30pm and the U19 Regional Games at KGV from 9-11.30am.
